ProboStat
The ProboStat™ can be delivered with an stainless steel enclosing tube welded on a socket. The tube either replaces the standard alumina/quartz enclosing tube, or is mounted on the outside of this tube.
MOREThe use of controlled atmospheres during measurements at high temperatures is a specialty of the ProboStat. Nevertheless, the establishment of controlled atmospheres is not entirely trivial. This is mainly done before the gas enters the ProboStat, and may require one or more of prefabricated gas mixtures, gas mixing, total pressure control, electrochemical pumping, wetting, and drying and other filtering/gettering.

High temperature resistant stainless steel by special order. Such tubes can be used for above-atmospheric pressures, as standalone outer enclosing tubes, or as a safety container around a ceramic enclosing tube when this is subjected to above-atmospheric pressures or explosive/toxic/corrosive gases that must not escape in case of breakage of the ceramic tube.
The tube is made of the alloy 253 MA. This alloy has good oxidation resistance to 1100°C in dry air.
MOREThere are two ways of creating a temperature gradient across the length of a standard bar sample. The simple way is to move the sample slightly away from the center of the hot zone in the furnace. Another possibility is to install an internal heater. The first method is the most common way to do it and is a reliable method as long as you wait until the conditions have stabilized before doing the measurements. An internal heater can be bought separately either with or without a power supply.
MOREThe ProboStat™ setup for measurements on large samples has been developed for measurements on disk samples with diameters in the range from 25 up to 60 mm. It can be operated under controlled atmosphere in single atmosphere mode, and temperature range RT-1600 °C.
